Studio Polpo is a Sheffield-based social enterprise architecture practice using situated and collaborative approaches to create objects, structures, initiatives and research-led resources that enable transformative social change.
Mark Parsons, at Studio Polpo was invited to participate in the 2019 harvest event – Pick Up Sticks to create a temporary construction on the grass outside the Edward Herbert building with hazel sticks harvested from campus by myself and the gardens team. This was linking with our theme of beating the bounds, where people were invited to pick up a stick to walk around the route as part of the improvised performance by [The Gathering…The Chewing] Gill Whiteley & Geoff Bright. Mark used the hazel wands and recycled bike inner tubes to construct a complex sculptural structure which marked the starting place for our walk around the route.
