Dan Fountain, created a site specific Orchard Weaving installation as part of the May Day May Day event in 2019 using salvaged and natural materials.
Daniel’s PhD at School of Arts explored queer craft practices in contemporary art. Primarily using discarded objects and textiles, his current research and artistic practice is concerned with how these marginalised materials might perform as a cipher for queer identity. Using neon jute twine as a rough warp, Dan and other visitors to the event wove organic and found materials into the twine i.e. grasses, twigs, plastic detritus.
